Migration guide
Moving from AssetTiger to TagLoft
One CSV does it. These are the actual steps, including the parts that do not come across.
Steps
1. Export from AssetTiger
Export your asset list as CSV. If you want the history too, export the Transaction History report as well — the two files are different shapes and take different routes through our importer.
2. Create an organization in TagLoft
Sign up and name it. No card details are asked for.
3. Upload on the import screen
Straight onto the import screen, not into settings. AssetTiger’s export format is recognised for you — by its column names rather than a column count, so a file with custom fields mixed in still matches.
4. Check what will be created, first
Before anything is written you see how many rows are new, how many update an existing asset, and which rows were rejected and why. Stopping here writes nothing.
5. Photos and documents
Upload them on the asset screen. AssetTiger’s CSV does not carry the image files, so this part is by hand.
What comes across
- Asset tag, name, brand, model, serial, purchase date, cost
- Category and sub-category, site, location, department, vendor — created if they do not exist yet
- People and customers
- Custom fields — matched by name automatically
- Depreciation — depreciable cost, salvage value, useful life, method and acquisition date
- Consumable stock — upload the item list and its quantities are recorded as opening balances
- Check-out and return history, if you upload the Transaction History report too
What does not
- Photo and document files — the CSV does not contain them
- Contract, insurance and fund records — nothing here tracks their expiry
- Warranties — warranty expiry is not managed separately
- Your alert recipients — ours are chosen by role, so they are set again here
Worth doing once you have moved
- Settings → Alerts: choose which roles hear about overdue and due-back items. The free tier sends up to a hundred a day.
- Scan a barcode with a phone camera and the asset opens — that works on the free tier. Printing the labels yourself needs the Team tier.
- Take one full CSV and ZIP export. Knowing you can leave again is worth confirming on day one.
If you get stuck
Send us the file and we will look at it. Most files in a slightly different shape can still be mapped.
※ AssetTiger is a trademark of its respective owner and TagLoft is not affiliated with it. Screen names are as of checked 14 August 2026.
